Ice and Skin

Nude, Vermont, 2013

Nude, Vermont, 2013

I’ve been writing about my recent trip to Iceland in my last three posts, so today I thought I’d make a post that included photos of nudes with ice.  Here it is – but these photos were not made in Iceland.  They’re from my trip to Vermont in April.
When I went up there for the reception of a gallery show that one of my photos was in, I was accompanied by Erica Jay and Nadine Stevens.  On the morning of the reception day, we went out to do create some photographs.
The temperature was cold, in the 30’s.  Late April may be when things begin to warm up here in New York City, but in northern Vermont it still felt a bit wintery.  There were some patches of ice on the ground at our location, and this particular one here looked kind of interesting.

Erica agreed to be in the photos I had in mind, but as she had to hang upside down on her back, her feet and legs had to be held by Nadine to prevent her from falling further down.   (Oh, how I wished I had taken a photo of that!)
By the way, Iceland may have “ice” in its name, and though the weather was cold and blustery at times, there was no ice at any of the locations where we worked.  I hope to bring you some of those Iceland photos soon.
